Key Responsibilities:
- Own the hardest backend problems across the system, from performance bottlenecks and scaling limits to correctness and reliability under load
- Set technical direction for core backend systems, making principled architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
- Design, build, and operate distributed services that run in production and are relied on daily
- Identify systemic issues early and drive them to resolution, even when the problems are ambiguous or cross-cutting
- Raise the bar for backend engineering by mentoring peers, reviewing designs and code, and modelling strong engineering judgment
Who You Are
- Have built and operated distributed systems at scale multiple times
- Strong experience in Rust, Go, or TypeScript
- Deep knowledge of databases and data modelling, including tradeoffs around consistency, performance, and reliability
- Known for solving problems others couldn’t
